2 cup masoor dal lentils (rinsed)
1 carrot (shredded)
1 thumb of fresh ginger (sliced)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/4 teaspoon poppy seed
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Chillies (optional)
Onion, garlic other spice (optional)
