(Rest-)Magnetismus in Stahlbauteilen sorgt für einen instabilen und abgelenkten Lichtbogen und kann zu Poren und Bindefehlern führen.
Dieser Effekt kann so groß sein, dass ein Schweißen unmöglich wird. Deshalb ist Magnetismus bei der schweißtechnischen Verarbeitung von Stahl unerwünscht.
