How To Combat Atheism and Materialism
“The only thing that matters is matter.” That sentence could briefly sum up the philosophy of materialism. Here in this insightful film, author and speaker Fr. Dwight Longenecker examines the first two of 16 ideologies or ‘isms’ which are poisoning our society. According to Fr. Longenecker, materialism is a philosophy which denies any invisible (transcendental) realm and only asserts the physical as real. This means materialism is also a form of atheism: the system of thought which denies the existence of God. How is one able to respond to materialism? Fr. Longenecker offers two solutions: tithing and prayer. The former is a practical way of denying the primacy of material things, and the latter establishes a relationship with the invisible God.
