In his talk, Ilya will discuss what today’s schools are like, what topics are covered in the syllabus, and whether coding can be effectively taught in schools. He’ll also share his thoughts on whether it’s worth it for senior engineers, who can earn competitive salaries, to take up teaching programming.
With over 10 years of experience in software development across fields like e-commerce, localization, marketing, and car-sharing, and roles such as developer, project architect, and tech lead, Ilya recently decided to try teaching. He began with a course using Minecraft and other games to teach coding, and now teaches at a secondary school in Riga.
