This is a coming of age story of a brother and sister who receive life changing news the same day. Both Madeline and Mitchell are artist, this is their binding glue and makes Madeline the proudest because she taught Mitchell everything he knows about painting. Their pinky swear and M&M candy is special to them, and the strength of their relationship. The pinky swear is their promise to each other to always be there for one another through thick and thin. Problem is Mitchell doesn't always recognize the thick.
