Three different topics are covered in in this video.

1) MY RECENT CHOP
This was not a one and done type of cut. It took me about a week of tweaking it to get it just right.

Here are the videos of the different haircuts I used:

2) SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENED TO MY HAIR

I’ve been growing out my gray for nearly TWO YEARS… but recently I noticed the peppery parts were turning brown. At first, I convinced myself it was just my natural color coming through. But over time, those sections kept getting lighter and eventually turned into a brassy shade. I tried purple shampoos, blue shampoos and home toners but nothing was able to cool down that strange color.

After filming the back of my hair to inspect it more closely, I realized it wasn’t my entire head—just the top portion. That’s when I noticed a demarcation line, and my heart sank. Based on how much growth I have, it seems like this must have happened over the summer. I did spend a lot of time in the sun, though I tried to wear a hat as much as possible. After thinking it through, I realized it was likely the chlorine. I spent a lot of time in the pool, and the combination of chlorine and sun must have caused the damage. 😫😭

I’ve poured so much time and effort into this grow-out journey, and now the color on top doesn’t match the darker shade underneath or what’s growing in naturally. My natural gray has a lot of white framing my face, with the rest being mostly dark brown, and this brassy color just didn’t fit! I couldn’t deal with all the brassiness any longer, so after much thought, I decided to get lowlights to darken those areas.

The plan with my stylist was to preserve as much of my natural gray as possible, especially the front, which frames my face. We decided to focus on correcting the brassy areas at the top while leaving the white and darker sections untouched.

Here’s the result: a refreshed look that blends with my natural grow-out while honoring the journey I’ve been on for nearly two years. It’s not the exact place I envisioned being at this point, but it feels like a step in the right direction. Sometimes, the road to embracing our natural selves includes a few detours, and that’s okay!

This is just a setback, not the end of the road, and I’m still determined to continue my gray hair journey.

Remember, growing out gray hair does not have rigid rules… it’s about doing what feels right for you. Sometimes that means a little adjustment, and that’s okay. Every step, whether expected or not, is part of the story.
