A Transformative Place: Landscaping and Incredible Gardens
There are places Jardim Onírico takes us that truly move us. It’s not that rare, which makes us feel lucky. But there’s one transformative place that deeply impacted us because of how excellently it fulfills its vocation as a Botanical Garden: the Inhotim Institute in Minas Gerais.
It’s a pride and joy to have crossed paths with people like Juliano Borin, the botanical curator of Inhotim.

Inhotim is famous for its artistic installations, and that’s great. However, what also stands out are the gardens that greatly enhance this internationally renowned space.
Well, we already know that Inhotim is spectacular. What is just as remarkable as its contemporary artworks are its incredible gardens, plants, and collections.
The Inhotim Institute is a contemporary art museum and botanical garden located in Brumadinho (MG). Inhotim is a private, non-profit entity maintained through donations from individuals and companies—directly or via Federal and State Cultural Incentive Laws—ticket sales, and events. Conceived in the 1980s by the Minas Gerais businessman Bernardo de Mello Paz, a farm's iron-rich soil gave rise, in 2006, to one of the world's largest open-air museums.
Its privileged location—between the rich biomes of the Atlantic Forest and the Cerrado—and the lush landscapes spanning 140 hectares of visitation offer visitors a unique experience blending art and nature. Around 1,862 works by more than 280 artists from 43 countries make up the collection, exhibited outdoors and in galleries amid a Botanical Garden with over 4,300 rare botanical species from all continents.
