Succulents and cacti are part of 99% of homes that have plants around the world.

There is no one who does not have a cactus or a succulent. Or, at least, one that someone gave them to them at some point in their life.

Cida, from Sítio Renascer, opened her greenhouses, production and heart to us.

This 2nd episode brings lessons on cultivation and life. A lesson on entrepreneurship and relationships with these beautiful plants.

Here you can watch the 1st episode:    • Cactos e suculentas e a vida de amor e sup...

Sítio Renascer is one of the cooperatives of Veiling de Holambra and has a beautiful structure that we will explore together.

Cacti and succulents are plants widely recognized for their ability to store water, which makes them especially adapted to arid and dry environments. Cacti, for the most part, are native to the Americas, particularly desert and semiarid regions, and are characterized by thick, succulent stems that are often covered in spines, which are modified leaves. These spines help reduce water loss and protect the plant from predators. Despite living in harsh conditions, cacti can produce large, colorful flowers that attract pollinators such as insects and birds. Some examples of cacti include the Saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea), the Macaroni Cactus (Rhipsalis baccifera), and the Ball Cactus (Echinocactus grusonii).

Succulents, on the other hand, can be found in many parts of the world, especially in dry regions such as Africa and Central America. They are distinguished by their thick, fleshy leaves that store water. Although all cacti are succulents, not all succulents are cacti. Succulents come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors, and are prized for their aesthetics as well as their hardiness. Examples of succulents include Aloe vera, Echeveria and Crassula ovata (jade plant).

While both plants are efficient at storing water, cacti do so primarily in their stems, while succulents predominantly use their leaves for this purpose. In addition, spines are characteristic of cacti, but not all succulents. In terms of distribution, cacti are almost exclusively native to the Americas, while succulents have a wider distribution around the world. These characteristics make cacti and succulents very popular both in gardens and indoors, due to their unique appearance and ease of care.

A big thank you to the family for the lessons learned.
