BNSF Freight Train + Crop Duster Plane Working in tandem in Chaffee, MO - July 2023
Last July, I was filming the BNSF local job in Chaffee and saw a crop-duster plane making several passes next to the train. See if you can count how many different times the plane makes an appearance in the video!
Chaffee, MO is a small railroad town located roughly 125 miles south of St. Louis. The Chaffee local works the industries in Cape Girardeau, the SEMO Port Railroad interchange, and other businesses on the BNSF River Subdivision. They ran in a 2 x 1 configuration for operational flexibility (two GP's up front, and a GP39-3 on the rear). It's not every day you see that kind of set up on a local, especially when all three engines are ex-Santa Fe four-axles EMD's.

BNSF 2848 GP39-2 (former ATSF 3656 GP39-2; built in 1975).
BNSF 3163 GP50 (former ATSF 3810 GP50; built in 1981).
BNSF 2668 GP39-3 (former ATSF 1423 GP35; built in 1965).
