Corel Painter Tutorial 1 - Brush Settings Part 1
Now that you've been introduced to Corel Painter, it's time to begin with the brush settings. This is easily one of the most powerful parts of the program. The sheer amount of brush settings might seem daunting, but with some time and practice, you'll understand how to use them to their fullest extent.
Brush Setting Beginnings
I want to encourage you to watch this, and the upcoming videos, a couple of times while you work in Corel Painter. It will take a bit of practice to quickly adjust your brush settings to achieve the look you are searching for.
But don't get frustrated. It was that frustration that put me off of the program for almost a year. I thought that it was too complicated, and not intuitive. What I've learned since picking it back up is that I was letting my frustrations rule me. And when that happens, I tend to destroy my motivation.
We have to realize that those things that are difficult are exactly the things we should be working on. I tell my students all the time that if they knew what I was going to teach them, they wouldn't need to take my class. I'm now realizing I have to tell myself that as well.
Don't Forget to Reset
One of the things you'll want to take note of is how to reset your brush settings to factory defaults once you start playing with them. It's easier than you think.
Under the Brushes menu drop down, there is an item called Restore Default Variant. Click that and you're back to the default settings.
