Measuring Dosage in Units
Verify Rx label to find out what the prescribed amount of units is, or refer to titration sheet when applicable.
Verify what size syringe was provided (30/50/100)
If dosage is written in milliliters, convert to units.
Conversion: 0.1mL = 10 units (1.0mL = 100 units)
Subcutaneous “Sub Q” Injection
Select and clean injection site with alcohol
Clean vial top with alcohol
Draw prescribed dose into syringe
Pinch skin and insert needle
Depress plunger until syringe is empty
Remove needle and wipe skin with alcohol
Dispose of supplies responsibly
