Walter Brinkmann, an overly proper family man, is lured to a cabaret by the free-spirited Bernd Freiberg to experience the lighter side of life. After initial indignation, Walter begins to enjoy the performances and develops a harmless flirtation with the singer Fee Freiberg. His children and housekeeper secretly observe him, but in the end, his wife returns, grateful that her husband has become a little more vibrant through the experience.
