Teaching on TikTok: Educational Video Tips for Academics on Tiktok, Instagram, or YouTube Shorts
Professors on TikTok?! I made this video for an Association of Internet Researchers (AOIR) workshop on multi-modal teaching, with an eye towards explaining educational TikTok and public scholarship to other academics. All of this also applies to Instagram Reels (where I've been reposting some of my previous content) and YouTube Shorts. This isn't so much a TikTok tutorial but it might give you some ideas.
Educational YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram has the potential to not only engage students but also the general public! Yay for public scholarship and public education!

Both of the above also speak more to the downsides of public scholarship and a social media presence, including trolling and harassment. This definitely isn't for everyone, but I hope this video will be helpful for folks who think it might be for them!
