Philip Sear plays a light 1922 piece by the Dutch composer and violinist, Joen (or Joan) Fresco (1886–1964).
----------------------------------------------------------------
Born in The Hague, Fresco studied at the Conservatory in The Hague and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin. Fresco founded the 'Holländisches Solisten Quartett' and performed across Europe. During WWII, he faced severe restrictions due to his Jewish heritage but survived thanks to his mixed marriage. After the war, he struggled to revive his career. Fresco composed orchestral suites, dances, marches, and vocal dance music, winning several awards for his works. You can read much more about his life and music here: https://tinyl.io/AwmK .
This piece comes from the period 1921–24 when Fresco was working in New York as an arranger and violinist in silent film orchestras.
