Insurance coverage is something that’s vitally important to our financial and personal health and well-being. Lately, we hear a lot about it, in conversations …. in the media and, really, all over Minnesota. As consumers of healthcare, we want to understand what’s covered, how much it costs and what we have to pay to see a doctor.
At the Minnesota Association of Health Underwriters, an organization of health insurance professionals, we work to assist health-insurance agents across the state to better serve their clients. These are the people in Minnesota who make insurance purchasing decisions as individuals and as corporations providing coverage to their employees.
Insurance agents provide an important service to Minnesotans, with one-on-one counseling concerning their health insurance. They are experts who can provide the best strategies for health care purchases. Our vision is to ensure that every Minnesotan has access to healthcare with the carriers and plans that best suit their needs.
We are a well-established state chapter of the National Association of Health Underwriters and we have served Minnesota since 1937. As the premier advocates for our industry, our association offers professional development opportunities to our members; we educate the public to better understand what our members do, and every day we have a positive impact on people’s lives.
Members of our Association ascribe to a Code of Ethics that centers on professionalism, public trust and fulfilling the needs of our clients. Further, our ethics follow through to the carriers with whom we contract and to our peers, resulting in respectful and professional relationships.
We pledge to be honest in our advertising, thorough and diligent when handling information, and career-minded by keeping pace and growing in the knowledge of our industry.
Our members operate in a competitive market and avoid practices that would reflect unfavorably on our industry. As we serve the public, we also seek to be a leader in public policy forums, and to build strong relationships with public health plans and public agencies to minimize the number of uninsured Minnesotans.
