In today's video, we are going to see how the flaps affect your Takeoff Run.
If you select a flap within the takeoff range, the higher the flap setting the shorter your takeoff run for a given weight.
This is so because by extending the flaps the wing chord line gets bigger and the coefficient of lift increases.
It is very important to understand the importance of keeping the flaps within the takeoff range, if you select the flaps outside the takeoff range your wing might produce too much drag or a coefficient of lift that requires the Aircraft to accelerate to a very high speed before the lift-off.
Depending on the runway lengths and the weather you should calculate the best flap setting for a specific takeoff.
You want to select a higher flap setting when the runway is short, and you need to get airborne as soon as possible.
By selecting a higher flap setting your stall and rotation speed will be lower.
