The word “disciple” refers to a learner or follower and “apostle” means “one who is sent out, probably on a mission”. While Jesus was on Earth, he had twelve followers who were called disciples.

After the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, he sent the disciples out to be His witnesses. They were then referred to as the twelve disciples and became the foundation stones of His church. In Revelation 21:14, we are told that “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” As leaders in the early church, each of the apostles played an essential role in spreading the gospel throughout the ancient world and many of them died as the result of their ministry efforts, often at the hands of the people they were called to reach.

So, have you ever wondered how each one of them ended up? And, where are their remains? Well, let’s open the case and investigate the life and death of the 12 disciples.
