In this video, Control Relay and Auxiliary Contactors has been discussed.
By watching this video, you will be able to know the functions of Auxiliary and Main Contactors and able to distinguish them physically.
Control Relay and Auxiliary Contactors are used for control and monitoring functions only. High power or heavy loads can not be driven on control relays and auxiliary contactor. Auxiliary Contactors are also used to switch ON/OFF main or power contactors.
The current ratings of contacts of control relay/auxiliary contactors are 10A max. i.e Ith.
The current ratings of contacts of main or power contactors may be of 100s A.
Sizes of Power Contactors or Auxiliary Contactors do not matter. Only Contact Points rating matters. Power contactors may be found in miniature size.
The numbers shown in model/part numbers of Control Relay / Auxiliary Contactor denotes number on NO and NC points. For example, CAD32 Control Relay has three Normally Open (NO) and two are Normally Close (NC) points.
