How many times do you see "Cowboy" films and many action movies using a straight razor at a ridiculous angle of 90 degrees. The razors used at that angle are merely for spreading butter on your toast.
The secret to successfully shaving with a straight razor is simple and easy.
Soften the beard first, either straight from a hot shower, or hot flannels (recommended).
Keep the angle shallow at 20-30 degrees.
DO NOT use the razor flat to the face.
DO NOT use the razor at 90 degrees.
Stretch the skin flat (not the razor) by using your free hand and your facial muscles. This will also tone your facial muscles over time and possibly reduce any flabbiness in the jaw area.
Above all, when you have got the technique right, take your time, relax and enjoy a bit of "ME" time.
