Mee Dhamapur talaav bolto aahe…

University of Life is an open learning centre at Dhamapur village in Malvan. It has been working on the protection and conservation of wetlands in Konkan division of Maharashtra. A diverse research study on 500 years old Dhamapur lake and the ancient temples has now received world heritage irrigation site recognition. This is the first and the only lake in Maharashtra to be recognised as a world heritage irrigation site.
"Me Dhamapur talaav bolto aahe..." is a short film made through community participation to sensitize people and also bring a global attention to the lake. The group has been working on protection and conservation of wetlands in Konkan division of Maharashtra and being appointed for wetland documentation in five districts of Konkan division.
Mohammad Shaikh is one of the first Syamantak family residents, a nature-obsessed individual from Konkan. His first-hand knowledge and multi-skill approach to learning at Syamantak laid the groundwork for documenting Indigenous culture and technologies. Mohammad is a member of the Wetland Brief Documentation Committee for all districts in Maharashtra's Konkan Division. He received his Masters of Arts degree and submitted an outstanding dissertation on Dhamapur Lake, which was based on his field research in Syamantak.
