If you want to read free ebooks or listen to free audiobooks but you are more interested in the latest bestsellers and don't want to wait for decades until the authors are dead and their books became public domain, become a member of your local library. Public libraries not only lend paper books and CDs, they also lend ebooks and audiobooks and many libraries already have an integration with Amazon and your Kindle. Kindle books are available at more than 11,000 libraries in the U.S.
In the US the platform that many libraries use is Overdrive.com. If you are from another country check out with your local library, they might use a local service for the same purpose. E.g. In Germany we have a similar service called Onleihe.de.
Here is what you need to lend ebooks from your public Library:
An active Public Library Card -Your library password / PIN. This is the same password that you use to log into your library account.
Your Amazon account: your email address and password.
A Kindle eReader, like the Paperwhite or Oasis.
A computer, laptop or other device with internet access on which to find and borrow Kindle books.
