Another way to send content to your Kindle is the Send-To-Kindle Tool that Amazon offers. It even allows you to send web content as you are browsing through the internet.
To get more information on this tool go to amazon.com/sendtokindle.
You can choose between
browser extensions for Google-Chrome
desktop software for your PC or Mac
or an app to send content from your Android device.
Using it is really intuitive. For example if you install the tool on your PC, you have three ways of sending files
Open the Windows Explorer, choose the document you want to send, then right-click to open the Context-Menu. Here you can choose the send to kindle-option. Then the dialogue of the tool will open. If you downloaded the tool from Amazon while you where logged into your Amazon-Account, the software will already be connected with your account. This way all your available devices will be displayed - you can choose where to send the file to AND whether it should als be archived in your kindle library in the cloud. This way it will be available for download in the future to all your devices
Special Case: Sending a pdf file: if you want it converted to the kindle format so you can browse through it like a regular kindle book, change the setting in the Options dialogue.
The Second way to send a file is from your printer dialogue. Lets say you are working in Microsoft Word and want to send that document to your Kindle. Just open your print dialogue and you will see the Send-to-Kindle plugin show up as a regular printer. Print-to-epaper so-to-speak.
The third way is opening the application on your computer and sending the document via drag-and-drop into the the drop-space of the application. Really easy.
Wondering about sending from an iOS Device? Amazon doesn’t offer an iOS App, but that is no hindrance - if you download the iOS Kindle reading app, you will automatically have the feature installed on your device. You can use the iOS Share-function and choose the kindle logo. Press send, and you are all set!
