"Xerado paints portraits of performances with a lens. His 'portraits' move. They are 'Action Paintings'.

"Channeling references to artists as diverse as Andy Warhol, Rembrandt, Clyfford Still, Degas, Lautrec, Roy Fox Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Alex Katz, Henri Matisse, Emil Nolde, Renoir and a number of other specific painters, Xerado creates epic portraits of performances that rival any static work by the aforementioned artists - and is more a reflective combination, or exotic blend, of various artists' influences - to ultimately achieve a splendid visual result which places Xerado's work into the dialogue and historical continuity of a lineage of portraiture in fine art, though carving out a unique niche in the process.

"These 'paintings' reflect certain stylistic genres in modern society - high art, graphic novels, comic books, even coloring books. The 'portrait' makes the portrayed look iconic, like 'superheroes', which musicians are, since they provide the soundtracks for our own lives. Their creative efforts should be reflected as to how important what they do for us really is. Musicians really deserve to appear Iconic, even if they aren't famous. The life of a performer is often arduous - and far from glamorous.

"As live encounters often occur under less-than-ideal conditions, the fact that Xerado can transform his raw, recorded encounters with inexpensive equipment, the elements of poor lightning, poor sound, hostile drunks and other hindrances into the results he achieves is nothing short of stunning.

"Xerado wields a minicam on a monopod, a rig that really resembles a paintbrush of sorts. With it, he "paints" a performance, providing an intimate, front-row experience for viewers.

"Additionally, the 'paintings' tend to characterize the portrayed event as to 'how someone "felt" when they were there, capturing more of the emotional element and the zest and gusto of the occasion. Totally trippy...'

"Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of any of these 'paintings' is that Xerado, in most instances, didn't know the band (or solo performer) or it's music (almost always original material - preferred by Xerado) when he 'painted' them, yet he captures the flow and nuances of the moment as if well acquainted with what will come and who will play when. But it is: Unrehearsed. Unscripted. Unknown. It is an intuitiveness that borders on the uncanny. The result: 'spot on'." - Max Alexander
