I was coaching a client last week who works in credit management. Their biggest issue was that their network thought of them purely in terms of debt recovery, and whilst they do offer that service, they felt that purely being thought of in those terms was limiting the amount of business they could get from their network.
And they were right. So we came up with a presentation which we believe will shift the thinking of the group and open up a lot more opportunity, and a similar shift may well work wonders for you too.
The thinking is simple - prevention or cure? If you position yourself as someone who solves problems, then people are only going to call you when they have those problems. In truth, many people will leave it until it's too late, but that's a whole other story.
But of course, if they have no 'pain' then they don't need you, right? WRONG! Managing their situation will mean that they may never have to go through that pain at all - be it physical, emotional or financial.
