Thoughts on software:
Really impressed with the rendering quality especially considering how light the software is. Very fast, comfortable interface, accessible and open to beginners.
Brushes can be a little confusing at first but comes naturally quite quickly. MagicaVoxel is free and a great introduction to 3D modeling and rendering + possibility to work on animations in-software.
Includes finished projects to do some "reverse modeling".
