Aloka the Peace Dog is a rescued street dog who became a symbol of compassion during the remarkable Walk for Peace across the United States.
In 2025–2026, a group of Buddhist monks began a spiritual pilgrimage from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, D.C., walking 2,300 miles (3,700 km) over more than 100 days. Their mission was simple yet powerful: to spread peace, mindfulness, loving-kindness, and compassion in a world often divided by conflict.
Along the way, they were joined by Aloka, a gentle dog originally from India, easily recognized by the heart-shaped mark on his forehead. Once a stray, Aloka became the quiet companion of the monks, walking beside them across highways, small towns, fields, and cities.
Together, step by step, they crossed America — reminding everyone they met that peace begins within and grows through compassion.
This video is a tribute to that extraordinary journey.
LYRICS
[Verse 1]
I was a shadow on the shoulder line
Born in the dust of an Indian dawn
Carried by love across the world
To roads where silent prayers were drawn
No name to carry, no hand to guide
Just open skies and the earth so wide
Then saffron robes in morning flame
Barefoot brothers softly came
Staff in hand, eyes to the sky
Walking slow as the world rushed by
From cracked dry fields to silver plains
Through autumn blaze and winter rains
No banner raised, no anger loud
Just quiet steps beneath the clouds
[Pre-Chorus]
They never shouted
They never claimed
They only walked…
And I was changed
[Chorus]
Two thousand three hundred miles of light
With a heart-shaped mark on my brow
They called me Aloka — the Peace Dog
And I am still walking now
Through wind that burned
Through nights that froze
Through bleeding feet on broken roads
A little soul with a heart of hope
Kept walking just as the river flows
[Verse 2]
There were days when the road turned steel
And pain was something we could feel
When metal screamed and silence fell
Like winter’s breath from heaven to hell
Brothers stumbled, bodies torn
Faith still rising with the dawn
Trembling hands and tear-stained ground
Yet not one voice chose hate or sound
Barefoot steps on asphalt flame
Each one carried no one to blame
Even wounded, even scarred
We walked with love across the dark
[Pre-Chorus]
No anger rising
No revenge
Just one more step
And then… again
[Chorus]
Two thousand three hundred miles of light
With a heart-shaped mark on my brow
From Texas dust to Washington stone
I am still walking now
No throne of gold
No victory cry
Just prayerful feet beneath the sky
If peace can move a nation’s soul
It moves in how we try
[Bridge]
Aloka…
That’s just a sound
But love
Is what I found
I don’t preach
I don’t demand
I only place my paw in sand
And when they walk
I walk beside
Where peace and courage coincide
[Final Chorus]
We walked two thousand three hundred miles of light
With a heart upon his brow
They called him Aloka — the Peace Dog
And he is walking now
No crown to wear
No war to win
Just steady breath and weathered skin
If peace can heal this wounded land
It starts with where we stand
[Outro]
Aloka…
Still walking home.
