Ingress | Amazing Homogeneous Fields with Co-located Portals
For a few too-short months, Niantic switched off the distance limit between portals in Ingress. A few enterprising and lucky agents realised this was a golden opportunity to create portals directly on top of one another - co-located portals!
And rumour has it that some new pairs of co-located portals have spawned spontaneously as well!
If you've got multiple sets of co-located portals in your area, you can smash through the normal 6-layer limit for a homogenous field. When co-located portals were first discovered, a group from the Czech Republic used a pair to make a 7-layer field, then teamed up with German agents to make a 9-layer field. Then a group in Japan made a 12-layer field!
This year, those records have been blown out of the water, with the Toronto ENL making a 14-layer field, and then a solo Resistance agent in the same city making 17 layers!
