Cold weather does not deter migrants in Balkans
(6 Jan 2016) Despite the cold weather and very low temperatures, hundreds of migrants continue to arrive daily from Macedonia into Serbia.
According to Astrid Castelein, a UNHCR field officer, over the last three days on average 2,000 migrants and refugees arrived with 1,462 expected to arrive on Wednesday.
Nearly 1.1 (m) million people were registered as asylum-seekers in Germany last year, more than 400,000 of them from Syria.
