A Local Impact: EPA and HHS Partner for Lead Reduction

EPA and HHS are partnering with state and local governments to deploy available resources, including infrastructure and federal program funds, and take steps to identify and remediate the effects of lead on children in early care and education (ECE) settings. In this video, EPA Assistant Administrator Radhika Fox and HHS ACF Assistant Secretary January Contreras visit Higher Horizons, an ECE facility with Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Virginia. They share their joint commitment to a “whole of government approach,” leveraging the collective expertise of the federal government, and facilitating interagency coordination to address lead exposure. Liana Sins, an Early Head Start Specialist/Coach with Higher Horizons, shares why this commitment important to her and Higher Horizons.
