9 To Build A Great Wall - C H Loh
Performed by Dr Wang I Ta on 19th August 2023, at a collaborative concert entitled 'Abstract Arts and Contemporary Music' at the Gallery of Akademi Seni Budaya Dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) or National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage in Kuala Lumpur. The piece was based on an abstract painting by Suzlee Ibrahim inspired by the Great Wall Of China. The work is in three sections, beginning with the incessant toil of the workers, the grandeur of the wall, and finally, the lament of the fallen workers who perished building it. The piece is dedicated to Jamie Tan of Aswara, who organised the project and concert.
