In the tapestry of the bible, the concept of covenant is a central theme that weaves through God's relationship with humanity. A covenant, in biblical terms, is more than a mere agreement; it is a sacred pact, a relational bond established between God and His people. Covenants served as a framework for understanding the nature of God and His redemptive plan for humanity.
The Scriptures unveil several pivotal covenants, each revealing different facets of God's character and divine purposes. From the covenant with Noah, emphasising preservation and continuity, to the Abrahamic covenant, promising blessing and a chosen people, and culminating in the New Covenant through Christ, marked by forgiveness and transformative grace, these sacred agreements underscore the unchanging nature of God's love and His desire for a covenantal relationship with His creation.
Together in this Prayer Week we will explore four of the key Old Testament covenants, plus reflect on the New Covenant available to all people through Christ.
