Grand Inauguration: ISG Welcomes 2024 with a New Office, Graced by Tech Leader Mr. Ram Bhagwat
Exciting News for 2024! 🎉 We're thrilled to announce the inauguration of ISG's brand-new office, marking a significant milestone for our journey ahead. A heartfelt thank you to the esteemed technology leader, Mr. Ram Bhagwat, for gracing this occasion with his presence.
Ram Bhagwat, 77, a 1968 M.Tech from IIT Kanpur, started his career with TATA CONSULTING ENGINEERS, and later worked for IBM from 1970 to 1978. He was the recipient of IBM Chairman's "Professional Excellence Award" in 1974. After that, he led IBM-India's Products Development Group. Post IBM's exit from India, he served as CTO for the Thapar group of companies.
In 1986, he joined Citibank as Technology Director for India and South Asia and was also tasked to assume leading roles in various Citi-associated companies, such as Founding Director in Iflex (now Oracle Finance), Founding Director in eServe (acquired by TCS), Founding Managing Director in OrbiTech Solutions Ltd.(acquired by Polaris), CEO of Citicorp Overseas Software Ltd., President and Executive Director in Polaris Software Labs and on VISA International's Asia-Pacific Advisory Board. For two years before retiring by the end of 2006, in 2005 and 2006, Bhagwat headed Citi's "Global Outsourcing Efforts" in New York.
Ram Bhagwat's leadership, creativity, architectural and management skills resulted in setting a new trend of high volume speedy processing using Unix clusters/DBMS in Banking and Financial Technologies, an alternative to IBM mainframe legacy software. This was hailed by Oracle and Sun Microsystems and Citi India was given a formal recognition by SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE WASHINGTON in 1994.
After retiring in January 2007, he was an advisor at Nucleus Software Ltd. and In-Solutions Global. He was also on "IT strategy Board" at HDFC Bank. Since 2023 he has been an independent director on the board of In-Solutions Global.
