Hospice is a type of palliative care for individuals at the end of life (i.e., a life expectancy of 6 months or fewer), who are no longer receiving/seeking curative treatments. Hospice programs provide treatment to prevent or relieve pain and suffering, and improve a patient’s quality of life, both physically and emotionally.

Hospice can take place at a center or at home. If you wish to stay at home, hospices can enable you to do this by providing medications, medical supplies, and equipment like a hospital bed or wheelchair, as well as visits by a home health aide.
