Saco Storm Damage | January 2024
Our community continues to recover from last week's storms, which damaged our coastline, public infrastructure, and private homes and businesses.
The City of Saco is working with County, State, and Federal agencies to apply for all available disaster relief for our community while we act quickly to bolster areas of the coast that were weakened by last week’s storms. We are recommending private property and business owners document damage thoroughly and fill out damage reports with the Maine Emergency Management Agency. While this is not an application to receive assistance, this will help state agencies qualify for the proper amount of federal funding through a FEMA disaster declaration. The deadline to report damage from the January 13th storm is January 22nd.

Between both storms we experienced last week, damage to public property is estimated to be between $300,000-$500,000. Again, the City of Saco will pursue all available relief funding to offset these costs. And we'll share any information we hear on new disaster relief programs through City social media, the website, and during City Council meetings.
