Is a DPT or OTS Worth the Money?
I went down a math rabbit hole this morning! I have always said that the salaries of PTs and OTs do not match the higher education that is required in certain states. And definitely tough in school based therapy since the pay is lower! learn more about https://www.yourtherapysource.com/
After crunching numbers, it is crazy! It takes 20 years to catch up! PTA's and COTA's essentially earn more for almost 20 years when you consider paying back student loans.
Considering that our professions are predominantly female, this would play a role as well. We may take time off for child-rearing or our bodies physically can not handle the tasks of the job as we age.
So I ask, is it worth it? Is it worth the financial investment - probably not, based on my numbers, unless you plan on working for 30 years.
What can we do to improve this situation?
