XR's ON MARS: Dual Sport Moto Camping Deep into the Mojave Desert's Wild Canyons
In this California camping trip, we take the legendary Honda XR650L deep into the heart of the Mojave Desert for a multi-day moto camping trip. Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is California’s largest state park, offering over 500 miles of dirt trails and some of the most rugged, beautiful terrain for dual-sport riding.
We push our bikes through deep sand washes, navigate the technical turns of Rainbow Wash, and tackle the infamous Diablo Drop-off. From the wide-open scenic valleys to the tight, towering walls of the slot canyons, this adventure was an absolute blast!

Rainbow Wash: Riding through ancient, winding rock paths and massive towering walls.
Diablo Drop-off: A steep, rugged descent that requires full focus—especially on a loaded bike.
Thimble Trail: Navigating the fast, flowing trails that take you out into the remote sections of Anza Borrego.
