Board Chair David W. Dodick, MD, FAAN hosted an insightful discussion with Phyllis C. Zee, MD, PhD, Chief of the Division of Sleep Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, about why sleep and circadian rhythms play an important role in the health of the brain. They discussed the correlations between sleep disturbances and brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Audience members also had a chance to ask questions related to insomnia, sleeping aids and unusual sleeping patterns.
