After a 6 month hiatus, I come back to do runs for a couple days and took back WR! Too bad I lost 32 seconds in Forest (update with new gold: 40s), it could've been a way better run and really should've been mid 1:13 at least. I haven't had WR since my 1:15:59 on November 3rd, 2016, which was beaten May of this year. It was the longest standing No IM/WW record and one of the longest standing OoT records in general.
Quite a few new strats since my old run including a more recent Boat Skip and the introduction of the "bombs early" route for 1.0 which goes to DC starting adult section and does Shadow and Spirit back to back. Child section has some updated strats and this was my first sub 17 child section, though it could've been better (my best is a 16:49 currently).
Pretty good run up to Minuet/Hookshot, and then pretty strong from there until Forest Temple. One of the worst mistakes was falling off the tree in Forest. It was a very clumsy mistake considering I was trying to play it safe, and overall this was my worst Forest Temple in any PB for years. The fall alone costs 15s. This was just about the only thing I didn't really practice since coming back x) I normally do a sharper down left turn, but it won't be an issue from now on. Overall lost 40 seconds in Forest (unoptimized gold), so even if this is a decent time, it's a bad run for me
This run is otherwise pretty solid and was capable of sub 1:14, my current goal time. I didn't think I would be this close to achieving it after 3 days back. I could get sub 1:13:30 with a better good run, but once I get a 1:13 I will probably be satisfied for awhile. There's thoughts about sub 1:13, it's very doable with all the time I lost but I'm turning my attention to All Dungeons for now.
Timelosses:
12s in child section (Bad rupee route movement and extra buffering on owl skip). This 12s is compared to my best child.
5s on bombs (sidehopping up the slope is faster, I began doing that after. Also climbed the wall after that on a side that takes slightly longer)
10s on Minuet segment (Failed to clip past mido with first megaflip, and goofed up sidehopping behind the moblin)
12s on Hookshot (Farming for extra bombs [RNG) and bad Dampe race [partial RNG]
5s on Bongo Dead (extra buffers) -- update, thanks to newly found boatkey skip this is 20s of timesave, but prior to this it was just 5 seconds, though, though more like 7 because I did ISG instead of crouch stabs
15s on Enter Wasteland (optimized my gold after this run which does it unbuffered and doesn't backflip away to do inverted camera). 12s is more realistic 1 pausing it
40s(!) in Forest Temple (Falling off the tree, bad SoT block skip, bad Stalfos, just sloppy movement overall. Gold split is bad, probably my worst)
10s to Twinrova [RNG] (Pretty good fight but nothing special, just a double or quickshot could save me 5 seconds. My gold here is basically perfect (quickshot double followed by fast double) so it's hard to not lose time.
10s on Dorf split (compared to an updated gold). I thought megasidehop trial skip barely lost time then but it's more like 4s. Also did Cma's safe iron knuckles strat which I stopped doing immediately after with some practice in gz.
And overall probably around 5-10s of random movement related things adding up
Can definitely get a 1:12 despite my goal being 1:13 given there's almost 2 minutes of timesave. I would've at least hit that if not for Forest Temple. but I don't feel the motivation to really grind anymore, instead I just do a couple attempts. The 1:15 will always mean more to me anyway, so I guess I don't mind in the end. It was a harder route tight on explosives and this route is anything but, but you do need an RNG bomb drop when you first enter Graveyard if you want to do some extra optimizations
PS: I split late on Zelda, so there is a fake gold on Master Sword. I fixed the splits back after the run. I also changed my split from killing Twinrova to where everyone else did to more accurately see how much my gold could be improved. Also, the !help relates to a fundraiser I'm running, attempting to make some money in a time where I'm broke and still on the hunt for a job out of college. Hopefully it isn't too distracting
Update: As of May 25th, 2019, this category has been renamed through a widespread community vote to "Ganon Source Requirement." This was done to create a more fitting definition, as some were bothered by the fact that you are technically not wrong warping despite the fact that you are using the technique. Ultimately, naming this category based on restrictions was no longer favored, although I did like No IM/WW despite its flaw.
