Stewart Lee on The Observer picket line
Comedian Stewart Lee explains why he joined striking staff at the Guardian and Observer this week with the latter at the centre of a potential sale to Tortoise Media. Union members fear for the future of the famous Sunday if the sale goes ahead and this was the first industrial action at the paper in 50 years.
Stewart Lee writes two columns a month for The Observer and said that the paper doesn't fill a gap, it 'fills a chasm' due to the nature of how the media operates now. He comments on the vested interests involved in other titles such as the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph.
