My dear friends,
Today, as yesterday, as for the past thirty years, I maintain my commitment to creating this great rally for victory. And as I said yesterday, without demanding anything for myself. I am not a candidate for anything, I am not asking for any constituency, any office. I am only aware of the unique opportunity that presents itself to France.
Just yesterday, Marion Maréchal was trying to obtain an inter-party agreement with the National Rally. An agreement that I ardently desired, but which Marion Maréchal, without consulting me for a single moment, failed to obtain with the National Rally, to my great regret.
Just this morning, in our discussions at the Reconquest Executive Board, we affirmed that we must prepare the party for the elections, while agreeing that, in the event of an agreement, we would withdraw Reconquest candidates to allow for the great rally for victory. This obviously remains relevant.
Surprisingly, Marion Maréchal, Guillaume Peltier, Nicolas Bay, and Laurence Trochu decided to lie in front of all the cameras, in a stunning press conference, to blame me for the failure of this union, accusing me of blocking the union I have been calling for for thirty years.
This slanderous statement is only the first step in a rallying of Marion Maréchal's close associates to the National Rally to win constituencies, as we are already learning in the press.
As a result, Marion Maréchal, Guillaume Peltier, Nicolas Bay, and Laurence Trochu have excluded themselves from our movement, Reconquête. This is duly noted.
I am disgusted and hurt, like all the activists, supporters, and voters, by the betrayal of Marion Maréchal, in whom we all trusted, to whom we gave everything: the lead candidate for the European elections, the sacrifices of the activists, the resources for Reconquête. Barely 48 hours after being elected by 1.3 million Reconquête voters, she chose to sell out our party, to believe it was no longer legitimate to champion her ideas, and to attack us with slander.
Like the voters, supporters, and activists of Reconquête, I was, am, and always will be in favor of unity. I affirm that Reconquête and I are ready to withdraw candidates in the event of an agreement with the RN, the LR, and all other parties of goodwill who want to defeat Emmanuel Macron and the Islamo-leftists. I am saddened to have to comment on these internal quarrels at a time when our country is dying, at a time when hope can finally be reborn. May unity live, may our ideas live, and may France live.
