Pelonis 50 pint Dehumidifier Short Cycle Hack
After a week of owning this dehumidifier, I noticed that it turns off after reaching the desired humidity, and after a minute or so, it turns back on and runs only for a couple minutes. There's no air circulation in my basement, so I'm guessing the humidistat mounted right above the coils was getting wet too quickly. I first tried a fan about 5 feet away pointed at the back and that helped. So this little 12v 30mm X 30mm fan stuck right on the humidistat seems to keep the humidity from the coils from setting if off. It's been working for a day like this, and now only comes on maybe every 30 minutes or so. It does a great job of keeping the humidity at 50%. Yeah I know I took off the air filter, but I'm lucky to have a clean basement. I never had to clean the filter on my 7 year old dehumidifier that recently died.
