Smart flaring for less impact
Every large chemical plant has a flare. This is a safety mechanism. During maintenance or in the event of a malfunction, the pressure must be released from the production plant and we sometimes have to empty pipes. This is done safely and in a controlled manner using a flare. This is also the case with Project ONE. Safety always comes first, but we also want to minimise any inconvenience to our neighbours. That is why we are doing something extra at Project ONE: in addition to a tower flare, we are also building a fixed ground flare – a first in the Port of Antwerp.
