most of the xbox´es use the format DVD-R but some very few xbox'es use other DVD formats.
and don´t even think about region codes a softmodded xbox is region free and can play burned games to without more modifications.
things you would need
a storeage device usb or sd card
a xbox to usb adapter cable
and maybe a sd to usb adapter
and if you wonna use a blank dvd
use a blank dvd-r
