Welcome back Pipistrello-ers! Or maybe we should say yo...yo. We weren't planning on doing another chapter, but since we've beat the main story in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, this game just keeps calling to us.
Last time, we ventured up to the treacherous heights of the SlimeCorp Skyscraper, to find the Staff ID of the SlimeCorp employee who looks exactly like Pippit, apparently. We did it! And after reaching new heights, we sunk to new lows and took the sewer detour back to the worksite.
Here, we entered a secret elevator to the SlimeCorp Excavation Site located inside of the Porto-John. Yuck! Let's see what happens...
CHAPTER 8 - SLIMECORP EXCAVATION SITE
If you're here collecting your second Mega Battery, this will definitely be easier than if you've chosen to start with this area. But overall, its' actually not too bad. The enemies here are about the same, or easier than the ones we saw at the Secret Frying-Oil Plant.
We didn't particularly like the way we handled this dungeon. We don't die at all in the video, which is a trend we'd like to continue in this game lol. However, we ended up doing a lot of back and forth and didn't seem to vibe with the dungeon's flow like in the practice recordings. But we didn't die, so well go with this recording.
Very similar to the Secret Frying-Oil Plant, the entrance has a central chamber with a bunch of different paths sealed off, except one. We recommend the basic dungeon strategy of hugging the right wall. You start off taking the top-right path and going from there.
There still are no high-quality, reliable online guides for this game. But unless we missed something, this is what you can pick up here:
-1 New Ability (Wall-Dash)
-3 Petal Containers
-1 Blueprint (Berserker Badge)
-1 Badge (Wing Badge)
Some thing are unavoidable, like learning the Wall-Dash move. The dungeon will then get progressively creative with how to utilize the Wall-Dash. It's can be aggravating and a little nuts, but just keep calm and you should be able to figure it out eventually.
The game introduces bombs here, which we hope will stick around. There's also a gauntlet-style room where you'll need to rush before the floor gives out underneath. This is the closest we get to dying, as you need to repeat the room if you end up falling.
Once again, it all leads to the room with the Mega-Battery. You'll learn a thing or two about the Slime Tycoon's backstory and we're starting to think Pippit's Aunt is going to end up being the final antagonist of the game...
But don't worry about that now, because we're heading into a...
BOSS BATTLE - Slime Tycoon
We found Slime Tycoon to be easier than Don Mauretti. He appears to only have three basic moves. At the outset of the fight, Slime Tycoon will pull out a ridiculously oversized 80s style cellphone to summon some enemies. While he's doing that, he's completely open. So you can wail on him however you'd like.
If he does this again throughout the fight, though, you're better off picking up a bomb and flinging it at him. This will do more damage than just a regular attack.
After summoning enemies, Slime Tycoon will jump around the immediate area and attempt to slam down on you. You'll see the range below him. Remember, you can also dodge by jumping at the time of impact. After doing this a couple of times, he will jump to another part of the room.
The only other thing Slime Tycoon does is hurl a large amount of bombs all over the place, after he jumps to a different part of the screen. This is actually largely to your benefit, as the bombs will explode and sometimes kill nearby enemies.
Additionally, you're free to pickup any of these bombs and fling them at the Slime Tycoon for some good damage. As you wear down his Life Bar, more of the room's floor will collapse, making it harder to get around the room.
Thankfully, you don't have to be near him. You can pick up a bomb and use your Yoyo Throw move to hit him as well. When he's dead, remember that you can hit his body for some good extra money.
Woo-hoo! We got the second Mega-Battery. Supposedly, we've been in the south districts the whole time. Now, we'll get to explore the northern part of New Jolt City.
Welp, it looks like it's time for us to take a break. Join us next time for 'Ch. 9 - North Plaza'!
