Many children in Haiti do not have a voice. They are abandoned, abused, exploited, and left in the streets. Little Footprints, Big Steps is committed to protecting these children's rights and helping them heal - by preventing child abandonment in Haiti, and by providing intensive care to victims. Having lived alongside 75 children who were separated from their families and trapped in an appalling, abusive orphanage, one of the organization's founders began reuniting children with their families. Children can have access to education, medical care and nutrition... but also have a family and a home! This is made possible through a sponsorship program. In addition, Little Footprints Big Steps works closely with street children to change their situations. A transitional safehouse run by the organization employs locals and provides wholesome care to children who have suffered neglect, abuse, exploitation and homelessness. This safehouse also encourages local child protection authorities to take action for efficiently when Haiti's children are in danger.
