Meaningful Translation
1. Read in the name of your Lord, Who created (all things).
2. He created man from a clot of blood.
3. Read, for your Lord is the Most Generous.
4. He taught (mankind) to write with the pen.
5. He taught man what he did not know.
6. But no! Man transgresses his bounds,
7. (transgresses them) because he thinks he has no need (of Allah).
8. Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
9. Have you seen anyone who forbids
10. a servant (of Allah) from praying?
11. Do you think he was on the right path (when he forbade prayer)?
12. Or was he calling for piety?
13. Do you think he rejected (the truth) and turned away (from it)?
14. Did he not know that Allah sees (him and will certainly reward him for his deeds)?
15. But no! If he does not desist (from this behavior), We will seize him by the forelock,
16. A forelock (whose owner) is a liar and sinner.
17. Let him call (for help) his companions (relatives and associates).
18. But We will call the guardians of Hell!
19. No! Do not obey him (Muhammad), but prostrate (continue diligently to perform prayers) and draw closer to Allah (through worship).
