The most astute way to use your credit card is to have a direct debit set up with your bank, so the full balance is paid automatically and comes out of your bank account when payment is due each month. This way you get the benefit of the interest free period each month and you pay no interest at all. In essence it's a short-term loan each time you buy something on your card.
