ANTIQUE 19thC CHINESE EXPORT SOLID SILVER PAIR OF VASES c.1880
Antique 19th Century rare Chinese Export solid silver pair of monumental vases, impressive and exceptionally fine, decorated with repoussé depicting 'Guo Ziyi's birthday' on a matted ground, the sides mounted with a pair of foo dog masks, top engraved with a floral boarder and terminating with a flared neck and standing on a spreading base and carved wood stands. Two inscriptions on the panels held by the boys read ‘聖旨’ and ‘全家福’, which translate to: 'Happy family blessing from the imperial edict'.
