This video explains about Glycerol Phosphate Shuttle and Malate Aspartate Shuttle in Hindi.
Heart and Liver employs Malate Aspartate Shuttle and most of the other tissues employs Glycerol-3-phosphate shuttle. This both shuttles use to transport cytosolic NADH (electron carriers) from cytosol to Mitochondrial Matrix.
NET ATP gain of Glycolysis based on shuttle and P:O ratios
For Glycerol Phosphate Shuttle:
5 ATP [ New P:O ratio (1.5 ATP for FADH2) ]
6 ATP [ Old P:O ratio (2 ATP for FADH2) ]
For Malate Aspartate Shuttle
7 ATP [ New P:O ratio (2.5 ATP for NADH) ]
8 ATP [ Old P:O ratio (3 ATP for NADH) ]
