Inspired by the Hardiman House’s Cast Iron Skillets, Dr. Hardiman has assembled some of the artifacts and photographs that she has collected over the years to tell the story of Iron and its Role in Black civilization-building, in Ogun technology, metallurgical excellence, fashion, and ceremony, positive and negative historical experiences, culinary resiliency, social justice, curriculum possibilities, and nutritional necessity. She calls upon the spirit of Ogun, Anastasia the Black Saint of Brazil, and her Grandfather Rev. Winton Harvey Hardiman to inform her narrative and remind us of the hidden legacies and messages in ordinary things.
